***********************************************

How appropriate a challenge for the Eve of a New Year!
What are your plans for tonight?!
Hanging out with friends?
Going to the bar?
Getting out the Wii Rock Band or Dance games (we got the new Micheal Jackson Wii game at our place, you bet your booty we will be boogy-ing it up with that tonight!)
Or perhaps you are hitting the big social in town?
Dinner & Dancing perhaps?
Whatever your fancy, pls ensure you have fun & be safe!
Onto the task at hand........
NEW BEGINNINGS
is the name of the game at Fairy Fun Friday for the next 2 weeks.
And just when I thought I was done with the Christmas theme, I decided to crack out one more card for a Christmas baby arrival!
Meet "Elfy Gillian" from Prairie Fairy Designs.

Sentiment is from Sentiments 4 You.
Image is colored with watercolor pencils, blending stumps & baby oil!
Doily is actually a long rectangular shaped doily I chopped up to fit into 1 little square shape.

Curious about my sparkly snowflake?
Let me show you what I've done.
I got these cute little clear snowflake ornaments from my friend Trisha & when I placed it on my card, it disappeared into the papers, so I covered it with glue & added some blingy glitter to make it pop.

Then I attached it to my card with glue dots.
Now whoever gets it can take the ornament off & put it on their tree.

Now get on with it, come on down to Fairy Fun Friday with your New Beginnings creation!

Papertake Weekly GDT spot! "Thank You"

So a few weeks back, the Papertake Weekly Challenge was lookin' for some crafters to be GDT's for their final challenge of the year in order to give the regular DT some much needed & much deserved time off! I e-mailed Dawny, offering my services & she accepted my offer!
I'm so excited to be here to make this special card for their

 BE THANKFUL

challenge.

This week they are being sponsored by SIMON SAYS STAMP with a $25.00 gift voucher!!
Woo HOO!!

I have used an image from Prairie Fairy Designs called The Lighthouse.
This is my first time attempting this image & boy does it speak volumes.
And since I have been experimenting with watercolor painting using reinkers, I thought I'd use this method to color my image! Turned out darker than I had anticipated, but overall I am pleased with it. I paired it with some darker papers as well.
All the ribbons you see here are from Really Reasonable Ribbons. The button is from our local fabric store. Pins are homemade, the creamy peach one by my BFF the Prairie Fairy & the darker one by moi! A closer look of these can be seen on the bottom pic.
I also took a few closer shots of the image & it seemed the closer I got, the more I wanted to knock on the door to this little mansion! Country Cozy I call it! lol

Now head on over to the Papertake Weekly Challenge and show us your Thankful creation!

Perhaps I'll give this to my hubby for spoilig all of us 'rotten' this Christmas.
Perhaps I'll keep it & be reminded of all the things I am thankful for....

I just love this little Tilda stamp & I've been dying to use my pirate wheel accessory that I bought at Dollarama a while back. I also have an accessory hook (same color as the wheel) and was going to replace the one she is sitting on with the embellie, but lost my MOJO during the whole process, so maybe I'll do that next time.

The 'journey' circle charm is Tim Holtz and the blue & white ribbon is from Really Reasonable Ribbons.
The white ric-rak is from Mrs. Sugar.....I won this from her a LONG LONG time ago (at the DCD Christmas Club Challenge) & still have tons of it left!
My little seashell embllies are from Hobby Lobby! I couldn't resist buying them!

I'm Tickled Pink

3 MORE DAYS TIL CHRISTMAS!!
Woo HOO!! How exciting!
Another exciting thing is that it is my 3 yr old son's first Christmas concert today at 10 am
I'm so excited to see him perform!!
AND
It's the last day of school for Christmas Holidayz!!
Whatever will I do with my children at my heels 24/7 !!

*********************************

Before I get going to that though, I must share a card with you I made with a stamp from The Tickled Pink Stamps Store. I bought 2 digital images about ooooo.....1 month ago or so and have been ACHING to get at them, but wasn't sure how to present them, until I started experimenting with reinker watercoloring (known as distress ink coloring -if I had any!! lol).....so as stated, my alternative is SU reinkers & my aquapainter.
I must say, I am totally, totally addicted to coloring this way!
Anywho, I am very pleased with the way Lil Christmas Willow turned out & I chose to display her on the Tickled Pink Stamps Monthly Challenge Sketch!

On the left hand side, horizontally, you will see I have 3 layers of ribbon. Raffia on the base, a fabric brown trim (I bought at our local fabric store) & the brown ginghamy looking ribbon from my Really Reasonable Ribbons monthly ribbon club assortment. Gawd I {love} their ribbons!

I added liquid applique & glitter to parts of Willows' outfit!
The bling you see below is from a pack I bought at Hobby Lobby. Very vintage. And the organza ribbon is from CTMH.

The frame you see below is from Dollarama & although I wanted to put a sentiment in it, I thought it better just to be an image, so I stamped a wee snowflake.
Could this be considered a holiday birthday card?
Perhaps.
The Paper pack is also a purchase from Hobby Lobby along with my newly aquired Tim Holtz distress/vintage papers; which is where this little sheet of music panel came from.

And the completed inside

While I am at it I am also going to throw my name into the NEW Tickled Pink Stamps Challenge , which is looking for a GDT for 3 months. What a pleasure it would be to work with such talented women. I think I'll put my name in & see how the cookie crumbles.
And Yes I said it was a NEW challenge blog that starts January 7 with BLOG CANDY  to launch. The catch........the challenge is only for the Tickled Pink Stamps ranges. For these ranges, check out the store HERE.

A new technique (for me) & TOPS!

Well, not really a new technique for many of you, but for me it is!
Based on my admiration for many people who color with distress inks, I have been practicing watercoloring with re-inkers trying to figure out if purchasing a set of Tim Holtz distress inks is worth it?
What I've learned......
1. The paper I bought maybe too thick & bumpy (140 lb & I;ll have to experiment with the other side of the paper before I give up on it completely- the other side is smoother)
2. If you stamp your image with Staz-On ink, you can't use copics to color (which is my only face colors)
3.. If you stamp with Memento black ink, let it dry first, before coloring
4.. (from Chelsea) you can lighten an area of coloring with applying more water & dabbing with a papertowel
5.. You don't need million dollar brushes (although they may help)...I use my aquamarkers to color
6. Tim Holtz distress ink PADS (I only have one) aren't the best way to get your color, so in that regard, yes reinkers would be best.
7. CTMH reinkers don't blend as nicely as SU reinkers.

OVERALL. I am having a blast coloring this way!
What have I made you ask.......

The light shades of blue are from my CTMH distress ink mini-pad & the darker blue are from a Twilight CTMH inkpad. Hair & skin are copics.

This is my first door hanger creation & I made it for my daughter Hannah (see her name on there) for Christmas. She's always putting one thing or another on her door!
Door hanger & star & swirl blings are compliments of Susie Sugar & her Die Cut Dreams Store!
These are sooooooooooo fun to make.
I am headed over to post this at our Steel Magnolia's blog now!
See you there.
