All about kids..............

IT IS RAINING CATZ & DOGS HERE! HAS BEEN FOR THE PAST 3 DAYS!! Uh.......I hate rain, it makes me feel so depressed & dreary!
However, on the 'up' side, I get craft! YAY for rain!!!
This image is from Mo's Digital Pencil & is called "I love it".
This card fits into the Mo's Challenge perfectly where the theme is to celebrate babies.
Also when I read that my online DIGI-BOSS (aka-Prairie Fairy [Prairie Queen] ) was sponsoring the challenge over at Susie & Vikki's Christmas Club Challenge this week, I just knew I had to get in on the action.
The theme is Baby's First Christmas!  Head on over and check it out!!!

I colored the image with watercolor pencils, blending stumps & baby oil! If you have never tried this technique, you just have to!! It is soooo awesome.
The ribbon is courtesy of my Ribbon Club (May) collection over at Really Reasonable Ribbon- my new fav. online ribbon store.

The sketch is courtesy of Fab'n'Funky (basic sketch) with a little bit of Fab's Big Christmas Cards Challenge (diagonal cuts) thrown in.

I am also entering my card in:

Creative Inspirations Debut DT card

I am pleased to be a part of this DT.
Creative Inspiration Challenges run fortnightly on Sundays & this week our challenge to you is:

'To use stitching on your project- Real or Faux'

I've done a bit of both.
I recently won a challenge over at Winter Wonderland & the sponsor was Delicious Doodles, so I got to pick any 3 images from the store. This particular image is called "Smell the roses". Isn't she beautiful?!
Head on over to the Delicious Doodles store where you can find a wide array of digial images.

I knew right away that I wanted to use this image, however was not sure what paper to couple it with, until I came across this DP (I've had for ages) covered in roses. Perfect!

Please come join us over at Creative Inspirations this week...........I'd love to see you there!!

Card for Sam !

Boy oh boy. I have alot to say about this card (that is so unlike me.....LOL-now stop laughing)!

This is a card I made for Sam. (see below for explanation & sidebar for image to add to YOUR sidebar)
At Pixie Dust Studios you will find the following info:

"Send them to Sam is a card campaign.

I am challenging everyone to help little Sam fight Cancer. Sam is a wonderful and strong 5 year old boy. His battle with Cancer is just beginning. He was diagnosed with Stage 3 Lymphoma this week. He has a very tough fight ahead of him. I would love everyone to join me in helping Sam fight this and WIN! Sam will be in the hospital for many months. I am starting a campaign to fill his days with tons of cards from all over the globe. What fun for Sam to know that people from all sides of the Earth are supporting and thinking about him. I am going to give him a map book and a ton of stickers. He will put a sticker on each location that his cards come from. How awesome would it be to cover the whole Earth with stickers from people supporting Super Sam. This will be a great adventure for Sam to watch the LOVE and SUPPORT from every corner of the globe. Lets each set a personal goal of one card a month, one card a week, or one card a day.
Keep them coming so he never stops looking forward to the next card delivery."

Below is a button that you will also find at the Pixie Dust Studios. Print it on your card, paste it on your card, make a card of it, but just try to make sure you use the button somewhere on your card to Sam.
The image I used for my card is from the Sew Many Challenges blog & he is called 'Miki Military'.
They have had some doozy freebies over there this month & I thought this would be great for a little boy fighting to be healthy again!

Ribbon is from the Really Reasonable Ribbon store! My new fav. place to shop!! It is called Sheer Ombre Kiwi-Watermelon (geen & pink)!! LOVE IT!

Charm is misc. from a set I bought a while ago.

I have included the button on the inside of my card & perhaps I will set a sticker in the empty white space on the right.

If you want to make a card for Sam here is the address:

Photo inspiration at FFF this week.

SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW, SOMETHING BORROWED...
......OOPS FORGOT BLUE!

This week at Fairy Fun Fridays we have a photo inspiration challenge with this photo you see here.
Let's see what you come up with.............

Now, if you are anything like me, I never know what to make of these challenges.
 How does it inspire me?

To make a photo with the same elements....a pitcher, cups & flowers?
To take the colors........orange, cream, black & yellow.....& run with it?
To envision when/where/why this photo was taken & make a card resembling it?

Well, the thought of my card was pulled together from the last question, with parts of the other two questions present.

The flowers......

The orange draping cloth.....

The ring on the cupboard drawer.....

The fabric hanging on the cupboard.......

Perhaps this is a candid picture of one's wedding day.
A table with items strewn about......

My interpretation is a vintage wedding day.

Blue & Green words only

At Paper Sundaes the theme is to share your favorite book, poem or fairytale.
So this is what I centered my card around.
My favorite book in the whole wide world is Robert Munsch's "Love You Forever".
My mom got this book for each of her kids (3 of us) for Christmas back in 2001.
I laughed, I cried..........I thought....'how true'.
So, mom, I thank you for being the one that loves me forever & likes me for always!
******************************************************
The words on my card are the main words in the book, like a chorus in a song.

Challenges for my card :
Pile it on- think outside the box (how often does one do a card with only words)
MoJo Monday- sketch
Die Cut Dreams- words only (typed & stamped)
Cards for Men-good luck
CRAFT- blue & green
Charisma Cardz- going round in circles

Friday's Child

Feels like forever since I've posted a card! Wow!

Guess I've been too busy enjoying the weather and bargain huting!

Seems everyone's got a story to share to here's mine: [picture it] so there me & hubby are at my bro's cabin in Lee River (Lac du Bonnet), when we decide to take a scoot on the golf cart---driving down the road we spot what looks like a fridge for sale for $50.00. "Ooo a fridge, no wait, a freezer" hubby says. Hmmmmmm.I'm always looking for a bargain.....so we pull in, door locked, hubby says forget it....we back out.......hubby says "That's like a $500.00 freezer".........I pull back in (I'm driving- yup hubby trusted me to drive), walk to door of cabin (of people selling it)..............ask a few questions, plug the thing in, bing-bang-boom.........SOLD! Guess that's the last time he lets me drive!!! lol
One Kenmore upright freezer about 5 yrs old is now owned by us, sitting in our basement!!!
What a freaking deal! This was the first thing on both of our wish lists, as we constantly struggle to fit all of our frozen goods in an apartment size freezer!!! Woo hoo!!

Onto my card. I used a cute image from Mo's Digital Pencil called Friday's Child that I purchased a while back! Perfect for their most recent challenge of 'what's love got to do with it' & Digital Tuesday's "cute people" theme.
I used the sketch over at Our Creative Corner, but I gave it a little flip, as I always do & added some buttons & butterflies to meet the challenges over at Pollycraft Mondays & Incy Wincy (where the sponsor is Aspire to Thrive Children's Charity) & Dutch Dare of "2 patterned paper, 3 colors & 4 buttons".

The color orange occupying most of the card meets The Pink Elephant Challenge & also meets "think outside the box" challenge at Pile it on, as I don't use Orange that much........ if at all (haha, now I'll probly use it all the time, just because I said that).

Finally at Charisma Cardz Challenge where the theme is "3D" I will enter my card, as the butterflies appear to be flying off the page & hanging "over the edge" at the Crafty Pad!

Here's to wishing you all a great hump day tomorrow!

Incy Wincy Christmas

Here's a Christmas Card for a whole lotta Christmas Challenges!
I used a Stampin up set called "Classic Pickups" with the sentiment from another SU set called "Loads of Love".
I got to thinking about Christmas Cards & thought of my father-in-law who is a single, elderly man! What kind of card would he like, A fluffy little girl, or a Manly Classic Pickup. I figured the latter since he still likes to play with his toys (bobcats, backhoes) & fiddle around with vehicles!!
He's where my hubby gets his handyman life skills from & for that I am thankful!!

Challenges for my card:
Incy Wincy- blast from the past
Bah! Humbug- Ribbon
Winter Wonderland- sketch (I flipped it all the way around)

Freaking out & Highlighting Really Reasonable Ribbon's Ramblings !!

So here I am today...............all day.............no internet connection. I try to reboot things myself this morning, even though ALL the correct lights are on, but 'no one's home'!
Hubby comes home says cell phone is not working, towers are down.
Explained why internet is down, I get it.
So I whip off another card this afternoon (not this one). Amazing what a person can get done without a computer available!!! LOL
Go to a birthday party, come home, STILL no internet, call neighbor...who says her internet has been fine ALL DAY!! UHhhhhh!
Hubby fiddles with wires, buttons and Voila............internet up! PHEW! Thought all my hard work would go to waste!!

My card today uses an image from Prairie Fairy Designs & is called "The Urge".

My card today also HIGHLIGHTS the fab ideas from the ladies over at Really Reasonable Ribbons' Ramblings. You just GOTTA check this site out!! It truly is amazing the ideas for ribbons that each of the DT's offer! (PS- they have a blog hop monthly on the 13th. )
Also ALL the ribbons on my card are from Really Reasonable Ribbons May Ribbon Club Collection! Another totally awesome site you should all check out!!

The first 2 pictures are ideas from the Ribbons' Ramblings site. Weaving of the ribbon through the die cut (I used a punch), & the making of a flower using ribbons! INGENIOUS!@@!

The inside of my card is a sentiment from "Card Sentiments" - a CTMH stamp set.

Challenges for my card are:
Stamp with fun- stripes (paper & ribbons)
MOJO Monday- sketch
Fab'n'Funky- make your own embellishments (flower with ribbon)
The Treehouse Challenge- pink, brown, cream & sky blue
All Sorts Challenge- tag or label

Thanks for stopping by!

Prairie Fairy DT card for FFF!

It's FRIDAY again, WOO HOO! Long weekend here in these parts! 3 Day wknd! YAY!!
Not that it matters much being on maternity leave, however, I am happy for the kids....no school MONDAY!

Over at Fairy Fun Fridays the challenge is a tent card. I must admit I was a bit confused when I first saw this challenge as I have never done a tent card before. It was really fun & really easy and I used this tutorial (hope people don't mind me advertising it)

My image is by the Prairie Fairy & is a set of three called 'Spaceships' which are available in her store here.

I did not do the traditional suspension tent card, rather I glue dotted by spaceships 'legs' (if you will) to the green circle, thereby suspending it sideways?! Make sense.

& yup there are those left over necklace trinkets of my daughters, attached with crystal effects to my spaceship!
I also have my card held together by a couple of paperclips (one on top behind the fold & one behind the sentiment), in case one would want to write something in the card!

AND there's that perfectly shaped bow done by my newly aquired Bow Easy Tool purchased at Really Reasonable Ribbons ! I LOVE MY BOW EASY.

Thanks for stopping by today and hope to see you at FFF this week!!!

Challenges for my card:
All Sorts- birthday
Our Creative Corner-Masculine Birthday
Dare U 2 Digi Stamp- One for the boys
Stamp Something- 2 of something (I have 2 punched sentiments)
The Crafty Pad- tear it up
Creative Cottage- one for the boys
C.R.A.F.T.- birthday/celebrate

Little ladies name forgotten...............again.

Yet another card made with an image I stamped out at Kelly's (Kelly's Kreative Korner) a long time ago.......and I can't remember the name of it??!! How awful am I? Regardless, I love this cute little girl and was just dying to use her on a card.

I whipped up this card last night in 1.5 hrs.......a record for me, just so I could spend the latter part of my day today playing water guns with the family! Oh what fun! In the swealtering heat, any kind of refreshing water spray is fantastic!

This card is for a new challenge I found called Christmas Stampin' All Year Long where they were asking for a recipe of :

Base: Kraft - 4 1/4 x 5 1/2

Mat: Red- 3 1/4 x 1 3/4
Any patterned paper: - 3 1/4 x 4.5
Ribbon or Fabric: White
Buttons or Brads: Red

It has been a VERY long time since I made a card 4.25 x 5.5.....I thought I forgot how, but it quickly came back to me!

Again I had fun with hubby's sewing machine, which I am going to be calling my own, very, very soon!! Mwahahahhhaaaaaaaa!!!!

I made a couple of ribbon bows using my very handy dandy Bow Easy Tool & beautiful white ribbon-both of which I purchased from my new favorite online ribbon store- Really Reasonable Ribbons! Perfect Bows all the time!!

I am also able to enter my nameless beauty into Pixie Dust Studio Challenge of add a pearl to your project. I added 4 !

Thanks for stopping by!

This one's for the girls............

......at the Creative Inspirations DT! Glad to be joining you guys!

Have you ever felt like you just lost your MOJO?
Lately that is how I have been feeling, but then I sit down & BOOM it all comes back?
I dunno, maybe it is because the weather is getting nice or because I'm feeling achy as cold symptoms have been floating around our house for about 2 months now. From kids, to me, to hubby, to kids, back to me!! LOL....that cycle you know!!
Anywho, over at Creative Inspirations (MY NEW DT !!!) the theme is to use punches or die cuts on your creation. I have both. Die cut around my image & punch for the sentiment on the upper easle. The girls over there are using Stitchy Bear Stamps & so thought I would do the same. I won a challenge over at ABC Christmas & got to chose 3 stitchy bear images............this is one of them. She is called Brumblebrella.

The saying on the downward easle I downloaded from Digital-doodling where they have a number sentiments & images for free. This is one of the sentimets & I had to print it (on vellum) THEN black powder emboss it, as the first time it went thru the printer.....let's just say it was a 'smudgy mess' without the embossing part!!

Challenges for my card:
Pile it on- photo inspiration (see below)
Rosie D's- easle card
Creative Inspirations- punches or die cuts
Paper Sundaes- easle card
Die Cut Dreams- use lace
Pollycraft Mondays- summer blooms
A spoon full of sugar-  cute & girly
Digital Tuesdays- use vellum
Stamp something- celebrate something

I MADE CREATIVE INSPIRATIONS DT !

This will stay on top until Tuesday May 18.

My Bro's Birthday.

There's another birthday in our familiy. My brother's birthday is May 18 & made this card special for him. I tried to fit in a couple different challenges & needless to say it was a bit challenging, but I got it done & he thouroughly enjoyed his card (gave it to him yesterday).
The image is from Mo's Digital Pencil Too & is called "The big guy grilling".
I chose a Mo's image in order to enter the challenge over at Mo's Digital Challenge where the theme is flowers. Weird I know. Flowers for a man's b-day, but that's specifically why I chose it, because NO ONE would ever expect that!!! haha

Now over at Your Next Stamp Challenge the theme is to Cut it out & Pop it up. Same with Pixie Dust Studios.....'cut it out'  (the image that is) ......So that is exactly what I did with my Big Guy.

I am also entering my card in MoJo Monday for the sketch.  Was VERY fun to play with!!!

& finally over at Penny's Paper Crafty Challenge Blog it is a recipe of 3-2-1 (3 embellies, 2 patterned paper & 1 ribbon )- Now I wasn't sure about the embellies. So I put 3 different types of embellies as well as made sure all my brads on top were black so as to cover all my bases.

And here's my card, all pulled together nicely!
See, there's my flower with paper leaves!! Ok, ok, nothing elaborate, but kinda fits don't it?!?!?!

Have a great rest of the wknd!
No school for our kids tomorrow, so it looks like another late night tonight!!

GDT Susie & Vikki's Christmas Club Challenge

How excited am I to be a Guest Designer this week over at Susie & Vikki's Christmas Club Challenge where there is a new themed challenge going on each Saturday. And what a novel idea to make a Christmas Card a week all year long to avoid the mad rush of Christmas Card construction on December 24th!! haha. (at least that's what i do)

This weeks theme is Christmas Stitching -Faux or Real. It's up to you. And this is my creation.

As previously discussed in my mother's day post......it was THIS card I was fighting with when my $14.00 mini-sewing machine decided to cough out it's last sputter. In the ol'garbagola she went, & out came my husband's "big guns"! Yup, he has a high tech sewing machine, that he is allowing me to use on my crafting addiction. What a great man ! So I was able to pull off some great stitching with his GREAT machine!!! That's alot of GREATS!!!

I am told this image is one done by Elisabeth Bell for Sugar Nellie called "Hug in a Mug". I chose this image specifically because of the stitching on her outfit....kinda suited the challenge, I'd say!
She was lotsa fun to color with colored pencils, baby oil & blending stumps!

I added some liquid applique to her jacket & sparkles to her scarf. One thing I learned about liquid applique; if you put it on & heat it up with a heat embossing tool you get a much 'poofier' look than if you let it set naturally, which is what I did with her jacket. Interesting huh?

Some die cutting, sponging, more stitching, stamping of the sentiment, punching it out, placing of some bling, ribbon & a flower just so............add a little bit of layering....

......and TA- DA!! Another Christmas Creation!

Also I must give credit where credit is due; in a couple spots.

Firstly-The ribbon technique along the side of my card (which someone commented as looking like lil snow balls), is a technique from the ladies over at Really Reasonable Ribbon's Ramblings (man, do they have great ideas for ribbon- you gotta check them out). It was a technique used to create a flower, but I thought it would make a nice border.
Secondly- my watermark is courtesy of Carla teaching me how to download Photoscape. I did not know how to make a watermark to save my life, but this program allowed me to make my own JUST LIKE THAT!!

Challenges for my card:
Winter Wonderland- see amid the winter's snow
Sketch is Card Patterns- but I missed it
