Tickled Pink Challenge- Be inspired

It's Tickled Pink Stamps Challenge time again! This week we all about Halloween with this photo inspiration!
challenge 43

Take the colors, take the distressed feel, take the candles, take the skulls......take it for what it's worth & run with it! However, you must use a Tickled Pink Stamp Ranges image to be entered into the challenge. OK? This includes Lil Lolitas & Lads, Pinkettes, Lil Pets & Cherrie Digis.
I have chosen to use Lil Lad Lestat (digi) from the Tickled Pink Stamps Store.  I paired him with some of my new Halloweeny papers (is that a word, Halloweeny?) lol from Scrappin Great Deals.  The paper pack is called The Apothecary Emporium by Echo Park. The sentiment I got from Micheals in the $1.50 bin! Cool huh! Bakers Twine is from Really Reasonable Ribbons.

Last CRAFT GDT card- color inspiration

What do we have here?
Well it's my last GDT card for the CRAFT challenge blog!
What a blast it has been hanging out with these ladies!
This week, we want to inspire you with this color palette:

Don't be as afraid as I was when I first saw this...OMGOSH.....I panicked, then after I was done breathing into a paper bag, I took a long hard look at my papers and found just the perfect ones!
Of course I also knew exactly which image I wanted to use....my favorite Prairie Fairy image of all times. Tippy Toe Fairy.
The ribbon for the top & bottom of my card frame is from RRR, the butterflies are from my MS border punch....I cut them out seperately......I really love doing that, it saves on having to buy so many sizes of butterfly punches. The blingy yellow butterfly in the bottom corner is from Dollarama. I have had some people ask me if Dollarama is the same as "___" in their area. Well, I'll tell ya this, Dollarama means everything for $1.00.....some items are $1.25 or $2.50 but general rule of thumb is everything is a buck. I LIKE THAT!! I think this butterfly was a set of 6 for $1.25 or something.

The pic below show the prisma glitter I added to her wings!

Ok, so now that I've blinded you by means of sunshiny colors, I hope you too can play along at the CRAFT challenge this week!

Take Care.

Challenges for my card:
365 cards- cards for an everyday purpose
Charisma Cardz- anything goes
Simon Says Stamp- anything goes

Feel Better!

Wow, have I been MIA hey!? Except for my "Paralyzed Puppy" updates that is!
BTW- for those of you following (the first two posts are HERE & HERE) we are off to specialist appointment #2 today. We have found that she has a bit more strength in her back legs, after assisting her to a standing position that is. We still have our 'paws' crossed over here.
Perhaps that is prompted me to make a feel better card.

***********************************

Ok, so the Magnolia-licious Highlites blog has an amazing blog hop going on for the next few days & after I hopped I realized I should probly get my Magnolia stamps to some ink and take part in the challenge to create a get well/feel better card.

First off I have used Mini Tilda & the Exclusive Doctor Edwin in Mini form both of which I purchased at the Magnolialicious Store. Here is the link to Nurse Tilda (reg size) currently sold out of, due to the aforementioned AWESOME BLOG HOP- and I can't seem to find the MINI link anywhere. Sorry. The sentiment is from SU & ribbons are from Really Reasonable Ribbons.
Do U know how small these MINI stamps are.......OMG! I was blown away! I thought how am I going to color these......but all is well with the few copics I have. I distressed the Magnolia tag with BravoBurgundy from SU. Yes, Lori, I had to get my OWN tag die!
And hey Kelly look at which sketch I used! EEK!!

Challenges for my card:

Magnolia Down Under- let's get punchy
Magnolialicious Highlites blog- get well creation
Just Magnolia- pink for Breast Cancer Awareness
Sketch Saturday- sketch (see below)
Challenge up your life- colors (see below)

Update on my Koda girl & specialized stamps

Thanks so much for all your thoughts, well wishes, prayers & stories you shared . I agree that a 'fur baby' is another child in the family! So much so, that when hubby & I were contemplating taking her to the vet in the first place (due to cost alone), he quickly pointed out "what if one of the kids needed it & it cost over $200.00, wouldn't you do it?"
NATURALLY!
So when I got home from the vet, $350.00 poorer, but rich with the fact that our puppy was still with us, and placed Koda on the ground with her legs folding behind her, my hubby was instantly sick to his stomach. After watching Koda struggle to get around & become incontinent all over herself he was quick to say that "she can't live like this, we may have to put her down".
I chimed in.
"So Reade (our 4 yr old son) has a back injury & is paralysed from the waist down......then we should probly put him 'down' too?"
NOOOOOOOOOO!!
What's good for the goose is good for the gander, hey honey!
People live with paralysis everyday. I see it, as a nurse in our local hospital. Paralysed individuals leading normal lives. It happens, & it happens with animals too. I have remained in that frame of mind since this has all happened. Until things get worse for wear, Koda will stay with us. End of discussion.
I have to help her with her bowel movements which are alot easier for her since we changed her dog food to soft stuff. We have been doing ++ laundry from her incontinence, but that comes with the territory. And last night, hubby said Koda cried until the wee hours of the morning......why? Because we have her in a laundry bin  with blankets in it, on the floor of our room. NORMALLY, she sleeps with us in our bed....so hubby brought the laundry basket onto the bed and Koda was happy as a clam.
I switched her bed for tonight, to a small basket my daughter had for one of her dolly's.
Life can resume as normal, see!

****************

Soooooooooooo, hubby brings Koda to the specialist today. She underwent acupuncture treatment, canine rehab thereapy....and numerous other things. They sent home 'homework' for us to do with Koda on a daily basis. She has another appointment on Wednesday at noon. The good news from the Vet is that she gives Koda a 75-80% chance to walk again!

HALLELUJAH!!!

Hubby said he almost cried when the vet showed him how Koda was able to hold herself up with her back legs. OMG!! The vet also said, Koda has feeling 3/4 down her spine, which is another good sign. Apparently disc injuries are common in shih-tzus too.

The vet shared a story with my hubby about a couple & their pet shih-tzu that were in the US, on vacation, when their pet suddenly became paralysed in the back end. They took the dog to the vet, underwent numerous diagnostic tests and $3000.00 later, were told their dog would never walk again. The vet told them to put their dog to sleep. The couple came back to Canada and after researching things, finally went to see this VET  Specialist (that my Koda is currently going to) 4 weeks later. She restored the dog to good health and the dog is walking again!

Miracles do happen.
Never stop believing.

I will keep you posted on Koda's progress.
TY

Almost forgot to tell you about a couple specialized stamps I have seen around blogland.

First off, at the new Maggie lovers Challenge blog, Bron is giving away a stamp made specially for her store by Pauline.  Want to see it.......ok, here' s a sneak.....then you have to pop over to see the whole thing and maybe even become a follower as I have!

Also, Pauline has created a One -of-A- kind Tilda for the Creashop Duymelot after hearing that Astrid (owner of Creashop) has been diagnosed with cancer. {{2 euro dollars from each purchase is going to the Pink Ribbon Campaign}}

Say a silent prayer......

(this pic was taken just the other day in her paralyzed state while sitting on the deck)

.....for my dear sweet puppy dog, Koda.

Below is a letter I wrote the Natual Healing Veterinary Care Clinic in our nearby city

{{ Hello. My name is Corry Smyrski & in less than 24 hrs my dog (Koda)  has become paralyzed from the mid back down.

Heres' a bit of history.
Monday evening, we noticed our 6 yr old female Shih-Tzu unable to jump onto our furniture like she normally does. She would bark that she wanted to come up. She proceeded to throw up once that night before bed.
In the morning, we took her down off the bed and she started to come down the stairs....successfully going down 3 steps then falling down the remaining 6 steps. After that we noticed she was favoring her back end.
I went to work as did my husband so Koda was left with my mom. In that time, Koda was incontinent of stool around the house. She was placed outside by my mom but had difficulty coming up the 3 steps that come into the house. She sat in one spot for most of the day then hobbled to a nearby chair.
At lunch I made an emergency apt with the vet in Selkirk to get her looked at. At the time of the appointment (Tuesday at 3 pm) Koda was able to walk but was crossing her back legs one in front of the other.....I like to describe it as her legs/gait being "dizzy", then she'd sit down. Her neck muscles also seem very stiff & she can't seem to relax it.....it keeps going straight up so she's looking at the ceiling.
Blood tests at the vet came back normal, one X-ray (side view of hips) came back normal and so forth and so on.The vet said to give her 24 hrs and call him in the morning with an update.
By the time I got home from the apt (6 pm- ...1 hr drive)  I went to show my husband how Koda was walking  at the vets' office and BOOM her legs folded backwards.
Since then she has not been able to move her back legs at all.
She is pulling her lifeless back end around with her front legs.
This morning (Wednesday) I called the vet with an update and proceeded to tell me that the next step was another x-ray (aprrox. $450.00) of her spine that would ONLY give a diagnoses, then the next option was to go to Saskatchewan to see a special neurologist vet to have a CT or MRI or possbily surgery.
Honestly, I told him I don't have $450.00 for another x-ray never mind a $5000.00 trip to Sasketchewan. So we are doing comfort measures right now, hoping for the best.
We started her on Prednisolone today. She barks, she responds to name & touch. she growls like normal when she does not like being touched......she is eating VERY WELL....and just now before I started this e-mail she got up on her front legs, looked at me, & I rushed her outside, but she was incontinent of urine all over me along the way.
I posted my story on Facebook and a friend of mine messaged me with your info, stating that you helped her dog& her mom's dog when they became paralyzed like this. She said you are amazing. I am willing to try some treatments on Koda to see if she can get her legs back. }}

******************************************

As this post goes live, my husband is on his way to take Koda to the first treatment at this facility. We'll see how it goes. In the mean time, we've ordered a DoxieCart for Koda in the event that the treatments don't work. This picture is what a DoxieCart looks like.

Thanks for taking the time to think of us today!

JUSTWORDZ- relatives week

This is post #2 for today, scroll down for my Fairy Fun Friday DT card

************************************************

HHmmmmmmmmm.............how do I feel today? Well as per my prev. post, I am still sleeping (working nights) and will arise around 5 pm for supper, so I guess I'm tired.
How else am I feeling? I'm a bit melancholy as I am sad to say this is my last post for the JUST WORDZ inspiration DT. It has been a great ride and I have thouroughly enjoyed working with Kim's JUSTWORDZ Everyday stamps. They are so unique and versatile....I only wish I had the time to continue on with Kim over the next 4 months. Sadly I will not be able to as I now have 2 kids in gymnastics & 1 of those kids is also in drama club, kids in the kitchen & Destination Imagination; which means ALOT of afterschool pickups for ol momma dear! LOL

Let's not dwell on the future, though. Let me tell you about today's post. This week we are concentrating on SENTIMENTS FOR RELATIVES. I have opted to make a card for my son for when he starts kindergarten next year. That's how I envisioned this card coming together. It all started with the Saturated Canary Digi Smitty Schoolboy A Ragamuffin whom I instantly fell in love with.
 He's my son.
Yup, that's him.

Then came the amazing sketch at the Pink INK Sketch Challenge & the rest is history! LOL
I HAD to use this paper from  (paper pack escapes me now) that has the little monkeys on it, cuz my kids are 'my monkeys'...........when I haven't seen them for a whole day or even first thing in the morning, the first thing I say to them is "how are my monkeys today?"  I've even caught my middle boy saying it to his younger brother.
I kinda made a sign with my sentiment out of my Tim Holtz grungeboard pieces. I painted them with my crackle paint & hinged it up with jute twine. The postage stamp from Whimsy says it all!
The pics below are some of the finer details.

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope I've inspired you to get that monkey off your back & onto some paper!

Challenges for my card:
The Stamping Boutique- to someone special
Top Tip Tuesday- layer it up
Saturated Canary Challenge #2- stitching
Pink Ink Sketch Challenge- sketch (see below)

Fairy Fun Fridays- WET embossing!

Friday, woot woot. As you read this I am asleep . Yup 10 am and sleeping! Sorry! I am currently working nights so I am often in bed by 9 am after a 12 hr night shift.

It's time for another Fairy Fun Fridays Challenge. Yes, it has been two weeks already. Where is the time going, I have no idea! There were some beautifully designed Sugar & Spice creations at our last challenge & we hope this weeks challenge brings on some more great designs!

Our theme for the next two weeks is

WET (heat) EMBOSSING

Meaning get out your versamaker/versamark ink pad,  embossing powder & your heat tool for this one!! We want to see what kind of embossing you can come up with.
My creation is not very extravagent, but fun, nonetheless.
I used a SU background stamp called Cheesecloth & I embossed it with white embossing powder. This is what can be seen behind my image. Don't get it confused with the actual cheesecloth I added as well. The sun is a chipboard piece and the fishy stickers are from my stash. Ribbon is misc from AGES ago (one would say my hoarded stash) as is the SU Hodge Podge Hardware. I barely use them anymore.

And Oohhhhhhhhhhhh I got Photoshop Elements (which I now don't know how to use after a quickie teaching session from my BFF, The Fairy herself--how does the saying go "use it or lose it"...)......AND I was able to merge my Fisherman Lewis with my Fishin' Gilly  from Prairie Fairy Designs to make this cute door hanger for when my hubby & daughter go fishing.

thanks for stopping by today & I can't wait to see you at the FFF challenge this week

Challenges for my card: to follow
Charisma Cardz- embossing
Fab'n'Funky- distressed/torn
Use it Tuesdays- use metal
Sweet Stamps- lots of layers
Simon Says Stamp- Nursery Rhyme (10 little fishes)
Ten Little Fishes
Ten little fishes were swimming in a school,

This one said, "Let's swim where it is cool."
This one said, "It's a very warm day."
This one said, "Come on, let's play."
This one said, "I'm as hungry as can be."
This one said, "There's a worm for me."
This one said, "Wait, we'd better look."
This one said, "Yes, it's on a hook."
This one said, "Can't we get it anyway?"
This one said, "Perhaps we may."
This one, so very brave, grabbed a bite and swam away.

I made my sentiment with various stickers from my stash after seeing a challenge to try this out. That challenge is now over a long time ago, but thought it would be fun to do anyways!
My ribbon is from my Ribbon Carousel September Club Assortment. I did some stitching around the edges complimented with some black dots.
